A French Mid-19th Century Percussion Pistol, with a formed walnut stock and octagonal barrel.
The barrel 10 3/4 inches long. No proof marks or maker's name visible on lock or barrel. On the underside of the barrel, "1756" stamped - possibly a serial number added after manufacture.
In fair condition, the stock has numerous cracks, dings, and chips, with some small chipped pieces missing. The action functions but does not reliably hold on full cock.
Priced appropriately to condition, this would make a good entry level percussion pistol for the novice collector or beginning gunsmith.
