This is a fine quality, WWII era, traditional handmade (gendaito) katana blade, signed and dated.

First 2 characters are likely a patriotic phrase, “Tokushima kuni junin yasukuni tsukuru kore”. The sword is dated 5/1944.

The grain of the blade is a combination of itame and mokume. The hamon (temper line) is made up of very fine nie particles and is a slightly undulating suguha with no flaws.
The blade shows just a couple of very small patches of staining on the edge towards the point, where a single flea-bite size chip is found. The blade is generally in an excellent state of polish.

There is a proper hibaki and the original WWII era shirasaya.
