A Very Crisp Military Issue Second Model, Model 1863 Percussion Maynard Civil War Carbine Serial Number 23293 Date Stamped 1865.
20 inch round barrel. .50 caliber. One of 20,302 manufactured. Barrel retains 95%+ original blue. Mint bore. Frame with 95% brilliant case colors. Hammer and lever with bright case colors. Muted case colors on tang. Buttplate with smooth patina.
Stock with crisp military inspector’s cartouches, One GWS, the other GM. Both legible.
This is a far above average example of one of the most important Civil War martial cavalry carbines, invented by the renowned dentist Edward Maynard, creator of the tape primer.
