Fine Pair Of Spanish Miquelet Belt Pistols By Pedro Esteva, Barcelona Circa 1740

Stock No:006453

A Very Fine Pair Of Spanish Miquelet Belt Pistols By Pedro Esteva, Barcelona, 1714-1750 The Barrels Bearing His Poincon Circa 1740.

10 and 3/8th inch Spanish form, half round, half octagon barrels with chiseled “wedding band” finely inlaid with silver wire at breeches. Very finely engraved breech tangs. Finely engraved patilla locks (top jaws an old restoration). Fully engraved brass furniture comprising beautiful pierced side plates (one a fine restoration), beautifully engraved thumbpieces with portrait bust. Spurred buttcaps with skull crusher pommels topped with relief portrait bust.

Very finely carved figured walnut full stocks in fine condition. Good brass inlaid ramrods. Actions are good and bores are good. This is a really good pair of Spanish miquelet pistols with fine long belt hooks by a mainline Barcelona gunmaker. 17 inches overall.

Early Spanish pistols are difficult to come across. They have significant Southwestern American history long before the Western Expansion of the mid 19th century.
