A Remarkable Matched Pair Of Exceptionally Long Spanish Miquelet Lock Holster Pistols Circa 1725.
15 inch long Spanish form smoothbore barrels. 60 caliber. The barrels with brass sheathing behind the “wedding band” transitioning from polygonal to octagonal. The barrels with deeply sunken poincon. Plain steel breech tangs. Very well made patella locks with light engraving at tail.
Wonderful elaborate brass furniture with pierced, cast and chased sideplate of a herm from whose arms emerges foliage. Triggerguard with serrated bow. Turned brass ramrod pipes. Bone tipped ramrods, Spurred buttcaps are engraved and pommels formed as an expanded blossom. Dark walnut full stocks in good condition. Elaborate brass thumb pieces of scrolling foliage surrounding a heart.
Actions are good as are bores. An impressive 22 inches overall and most showy.
