A Very Good Matched Pair Of English Flintlock Officer’s Pistols By One Of England’s Renowned Gunmakers Philip Bond (1794-1816) 45 Cornhill, London Circa 1810.

9 inch round barrels retaining what appears to be most of an of the period brown finish. Engraved "P. Bond 45 Cornhill London". 65 caliber. Londin gunmaker’s proofs and Bond’s own "PB" in a cartouche. Finely engraved breech tangs held by a finely engraved screw. Stepped bolted locks with push-on safeties, lightly engraved elegant swan-neck cocks. Bridled frizzens with roller bearing springs. Light engraving on frizzens.

Engraved side-nails. Silver mask buttcaps. Silver trigger guards are attractive but likely not the original. Silver shield thumb piece. Figured walnut full stocks. All lock parts including engraved top-jaws are original.

The actions are excellent and bores are fine. 15 inches overall. A handsome Napoleonic era pair of British flintlock officer’s pistols by one of Great Britain’s best.
