A Fine American Revolutionary War Period Officer’s Hanger In Scabbard Circa 1780.

25 inch long unmarked blade with wide central fuller extending full length and shorter narrow fuller above. One inch wide at forte, Blade in good overall condition with only some light corrosion and staining. Finely formed steel hilt pierced with four large open open panels with lovely untouched chocolate patina. Beautiful ribbed black wood grip wrapped with copper banding. Globose writhin pommel.

This fine hanger which might have adorned the belt of either a British officer or an American is accompanied by its original black leather scabbard and its chape and locket. The leather with much original patent leather finish is soft but undamaged. Altogether a most attractive sword. 31 inches overall out of scabbard.
