A Very Attractive Silver Mounted Indo-Persian Shamshir With Elaborate Silver Mounted Morocco Leather Covered Wood Scabbard Circa 1875.
32 and 1/2 inch long blade with wide central fuller below triple narrow fullers. Blade is in polished condition, possibly Damascus or may be European. 1 and 1/2 inches wide at forte. Classic Persian style silver cross guard with expanded quillon tips. Dark horn grip scales affixed with brass studs. Silver wire wrapping. Engraved silver Persian beak pommel.
Scabbard with large elaborately engraved locket, heavy silver engraved suspension fittings with heavy silver loops. 17 and 1/8th inches long silver chape engraved throughout its length with panels, the top repoussed.
Overall condition is fine showing only minor wear. The sword fits smartly and snugly in its beautiful original period scabbard. An impressive 38 inches overall in scabbard. This is a real eye catching shamshir.
