A Scarce English Flintlock Blunderbuss With Under Barrel Snap Bayonet.
The Bolted Lock Indistinctly Signed “NOYNES” Circa 1810. 14 and 3/8th inch round smoothbore brass barrel octagonal at breech with 1 and 3/8th inch bell muzzle. Stamped on breech with the original owner’s name “JPVENN”. Bolted lock with swan neck cock is lightly pitted. All small lock parts are original. Engraved brass triggerguard and buttplate.
Side mounted ramrod (old replacement). 6 and 1/8th inch steel triangular bayonet. Figured walnut fullstock in good condition with old splinter forward of the lock. Action strong on both full and half cock. Snap bayonet spring is weak.
28 and 5/8th inches overall. Under barrel bayonet blunderbusses are scarce.
