A Fine And Desirable Soten School Japanese Samurai Sword Guard Tsuba For A Katana, Mid Edo Circa 1740.
The fine russet iron plate is 2 and 7/8th inches in diameter. The guard beautifully pierced depicting three heavily armored samurai in a wooded landscape. The samurai chiseled in intricate detail with copper and silver faces and gold inlaid yoroi enhanced with shakudo katana. The samurai’s kabuto with horned maidate and gold fukigayashi.
The quality and beauty of this Soten tsuba and the lustrous russet patina of the plate itself makes this a true miniature work of art worthy of a fine Shinto katana by a rated swordsmith.
