A Fine And Rare Solid Silver Stocked Greek Flintlock Musket “Kariophili” With Gold And Silver Damascened Barrel Circa 1830.
39 and 1/2 inch smoothbore barrel slightly swamped at muzzle. 80 caliber. Half round half octagonal barrel extensively Damascened at breech with gold and silver foliage. Fluted muzzle Damascened ensuite. Engraved bolted lock of fine quality. Swan neck hammer engraved. Barrel held by four engraved silver capucines.
Low grade silver fullstock of characteristic Greek Kariophili configuration well engraved throughout its length with foliage and flourishes. These Greek flintlock muskets are quite rare and to find one with a full silver stock is most unusual. 54 inches overall.
Condition is fine throughout. The action is excellent and the bore is fair. This kariophili even retains its original steel ramrod. You will look long and hard to fine another one like this.
