A Very Fine High Art Chiseled Steel Tusco-Emilian Snaphaunce Pistol Lock Dated 1800.

8 and 3/4 inch ‘Spanish’ form barrel 16 sided at the forward section and fluted at the breech signed by the famous barrel maker “LAZARO COMINAZZO” slightly rubbed. 52 caliber smoothbore.

Superbly chiseled and engraved snaphaunce lock, the tail with high relief chiseled female face. The elaborately chiseled cock with a serpent and retained by a relief chiseled face. The lock finely engraved with scrolls. The battery finely chiseled as is the battery spring. The pan with chiseled face in relief.

The elaborate sideplate chiseled with a Romanesque face in relief pierced and chiseled with dragons and women with grotesquely elongated breasts. Pierced and chiseled thumb piece with Roman portrait bust, chiseled and engraved spurred buttcap with magnificent relief portrait pommel cap. Triggerguard chiseled with large female portrait. Elaborate chiseled trigger. Rear ramrod pipe chiseled with further portrait.

Highly figured walnut fullstock carved in relief at wrist and the fore-end. Ramrod may be the original. Belthook missing, Overall condition is fine. 14 inches overall. This snaphaunce is truly a work of art in firearm’s form. One of the very finest examples we have had the pleasure of offering.
