The Very Finest Quality High Art Chiseled And Gilt Polish Flintlock Holster Pistol In America By Rochius Daiczer In “CZESTOHOVIC” Czestochowa In Silesia Circa 1770.

10 inch superbly patterned relief chiseled smoothbore round barrel. .58 caliber. The barrel itself is a truly remarkable tour de force with the finest Damascus pattern imaginable and relief chiseled panels profusely inlaid with gold wire tendrils. The muzzle chiseled with gold filled teardrops. silver front sight ad two thick silver bands. “A CZESTOHOVIC” in its relief chiseled panel in gold letters.

The breech section with two silver bands and a further band of relief chiseling. The breech tang very finely chiseled with a blossom heightened with gold and engraved gilded screw. The flat lock plate chiseled in relief with Diana seated with hound at her feet placidly observing two hounds attacking an antlered stag as a hare runs off and another antlered stag flees at the tail of the lock. The cock is internal, engraved, and enclosed by a false wheel chiseled with a blossom and richly gilded.

The sculpted frizzen chiseled and richly gilded with an oak tree. Faceted pan with highly sophisticated rainproof pan with drain, the frizzen relieved to accept the raised rain proof pan.

The maker of this splendid pistiol engraved his name “ROCHIUS DAICZER: on the bevel of the plate so as not to disturb the flow of the elaborate decoration of Diana. All furniture of gilded brass. The flattened spurred buttcap the skull crusher pommel cap engraved with a blossom. Double engraved gilded brass split sideplates.

Highly figured walnut fullstock relief carved behind breech tang with a large blossom and checkered at wrist. Horn tipped ramrod appears to be the original and is ensuite with the horn fore-end.

Condition of the steel, gilding, gold inlay, Damascus, mounts, and walnut stock is excellent throughout and the bore appears mint and pistol unfired, 15 and 1/2 inches overall. This is doubtless the finest and most artistically important Polish flintlock pistol to be offered in decades.
